Expression of Interleukin?6 and Tumor Necrosis Factorαin Cerebrospinal Fluid of Patients with Lupus Encephalopathy and Their Clinical Significance

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the expression levels of interleukin 6(IL?6)and tumor necrosis factorα(TNF?α)in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)of patients with lupus encephalopathy(LE),and explore their clinical significance. Methods CSF were collected from 15 patients with LE and 15 patients with chronic headache. The CSF routine examinations in patients with chronic headache were all normal. The expression levels of IL?6 and TNF?αwere measured by enzyme?linked immunosorbent assay. Clinical features and laboratory data were collected from the patients with LE. Results The levels of IL?6(237.73±66.29 pg/mL vs 4.67±2.50 pg/mL)and TNF?α(39.07±24.48 pg/mL vs 4.33±2.94 pg/mL)were significantly different between the patients with LE and those with chronic headache(both P<0.01). No significant correlations were found between the levels of IL?6 or TNF?αand erythrocyte sendimentation rate,serum immunoglobulin levels,serum C?reaction protein level,serum component levels,com?plete levels as well as SLE disease activity index. Conclusion IL?6 and TNF?αcould be the new targets in the treatment of LE. The mechanisms of the increased expression of IL?6 and TNF?αin CSF of patients with LE is worthy to be investigated.关键词
