Abstract
Objective To investigate the value of harmonic scalpel and protection of recurrent laryngeal nerve(RLN) in benign thyroid surgery. Methods Clinical data of 187 patients with benign thyroid diseases were analyzed respectively. All the cases were divided into operation with harmonic scalpel group and with con⁃ventional electric scalpel group. The operation time, blood loss,postoperative drainage volume, surgical complica⁃tions and postoperative hospitalization time were compared between the two groups. Results The operation time, blood loss and surgical complications in harmonic scalpel group were less than those in conventional group (P<0.05) There was no significant difference in drainage volume and postoperative hospitalization time between the two groups(P>0.05). Conclusion Use of harmonic scalpel and dissection of RLN in open thyroid sur⁃gery can reduce operation time, blood loss and postoperative surgical complications.关键词
