摘要
Abstract
Objective To study the effect of low frequency noise at high levels on hearing. Methods Guinea pigs (250~300 g) with normal hearing, were exposed to a 130 dB SPL band noise centered around 100 Hz continuously for 4 hours. The auditory brainstem response was recorded and cochlear morphology examined immediately and at 1 day after the exposure. Results The exposure produced about 20 dB temporary threshold shift. After 1 day, there were signs of hearing recovy, but thresholds remained elevated. On morphology examination, although there was no significant injury to cochlear hair cells, early apoptosis protein Caspase3 was detected. Conclusion Low frequency noise at high levels can produce tem⁃porary threshold shift, but quickly followed by partial recovery. Although cochlear hair cells show no signs of damage imme⁃diately, there are indications that the apoptotic process may have been activated.关键词
