Abstract
Objective To study temporal bone CT performance in diagnosing tympanosclerosis with vari-ous ossicular chain lesions. Methods One hundred eleven patients with surgically confirmed tympanosclerosis were divided into three groups based on their ossicular chain lesions, Their corresponding specific and nonspe-cific CT manifestations were studied and compared. Results Non-specific CT manifestations were different in Group A from Groups B and C (P<0.05), but not between Groups B and C (P>0.05). CT missed diagnosis of os-sicular chain interruption in 51.61%of the cases. Regarding specific CT manifestations, there were no signifi-cant differences among the three groups. The rate of tympanic membrane calcification was 59.46%, and the rate of calcification/ossification in the epitympanum or autrum was 26.13% Conclusion Most pre-operative CT manifestations are nonspecific, which increase as ossicular chain lesions become increasingly severe. The rate of positive specific CT findings (including calcification/ossification) is low, although the rate of finding calcification in the tympanic membrane is relatively high.关键词
