Abstract

In order to avoid the number of partial discharge (PD) in shunt reactor must be determined by in-ternal examination, the fluid flow characteristics of insulation oil in the reactor is analyzed based on the hy-drodynamics and diffusion theory. The movement track of acetylene and variation model of on-line chro-matogram with different PD positions are built in this paper. A new method to determine the PD number and position by employing the on-line chromatogram is proposed. Finally, a practical case is analyzed by using the proposed method. The results show that the acetylene movement is mainly determined by the flow of insulation oil in oil tank and it presents several variation modes with oscillation attenuation. The PD number can be di-agnosed through the number of peak platform in acetylene variation curve, and the PD position can be de-duced by comparing the peak time finger chromatogram of acetylene variation curve between different sam-pling ports. Finally, the proposed method is verified by the reality case.
