Efficacy of Scalp and Body Acupuncture Therapy in the Treatment of Acute Carotid Atherosclerotic Cerebral Infarction and Its Effect on the Serum MMP-2

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the therapeutic effect of acupuncture on acute cerebral infarction with ca-rotid artery atherosclerosis,and the influence of serum MMP -2 and prognosis in the patients.Methods:Select 102 patients with acute carotid atherosclerotic cerebral infarction,and they were randomly divided into two groups,with 51 cases in each group,and two groups are respectively treated with acupuncture plus conventional medicine ( the acupuncture group ) and conventional drug treatment ( the control group ).Observe the efficacy of two groups and determine the changes of serum MMP -2 level and prognosis in the patients before and after treatment.Results:In the treatment group,28 cases were cured;16 cases were improved significantly;6 cases were improved;1 case was invalid,and the total effective rate was 98.1%;in the control group,18 cases were cured;17 cases were improved significantly;10 cases were improved;6 cases were invalid,and the total effec-tive rate was 88.2%.The difference of efficacy between two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05) and the treatment group was better than the control group.In the treatment group,the level of serum MMP-2 in the patients was significantly decreased after 2 weeks and 4 weeks of the treatment ( P<0.05 ) and in the control group the level of serum MMP -2 in the patients was significantly decreased after 4 weeks of the treatment ( P<0.05 ).The level of MMP-2 in the patients of two groups was significantly different between 2 and 4 weeks'treatment,and the treatment group was significantly lower than the control group.Conclusion : The efficacy of scalp and body acupuncture therapy in the treatment of acute carotid atherosclerotic cerebral infarction is exact,and this therapy can significantly reduce the level of serum MMP -2 in the patients,reduce inflammation,sta-bilize atherosclerotic plaque and reduce the occurrence of cerebral infarction,mitigate reperfusion injury and can be popularized in clinic.关键词
