Effects of Semi-rigid Joints of Steel Frames on Natural Vibration Period of Structures

Abstract
The effects of the stiffness of semi-rigid connection between beams and columns of spatial steel frames and the variation of story height on the natural vibration period of the structure under seismic and wind loads were studied. The“combine”elements in ANSYS were used to simulate the semi-rigid connections between the beams and the columns. Different connection models were then established in the spatial frame models to analyze the structural intrinsic characteristics and the effects of various beam-column connection stiffness coefficients on the natural vibration period of the spatial steel structures. The simulation results indicate that the change of the connection stiffness coefficients has great influence on the structural natural vibration period. The effects of story height were also analyzed. Finally, the curves of the natural vibration period of multi-layer tower steel structure vs. connection stiffness coefficients and story height were plotted, which may provide a reference for the seismic and wind analysis of engineering structures.关键词
