Effect of Ti content on microstructure and properties of high vanadium alloy cast iron

摘要

Abstract

This paper is specifically directed at improving the wear resistance of high vanadium alloy cast iron. This improvement is performed by designing and preparing the high vanadium alloy cast iron containing C of 2 . 2% and identifying the effect of Ti content on microstructure and properties of high va-nadium alloy cast iron by adding different content of Ti;using scan electron microscopy ( SEM) with en-ergy spectrometer to observe the microstructure of high vanadium alloy cast iron and measure the composi-tion and content of different structure;examining the phase of the high vanadium alloy cast iron by X-ray diffract meter ( XRD);and testing the hardness, impact toughness, and wear resistance of high vanadium alloy cast iron by using the hardness tester, impact tester and friction and wear tester. The results show that the addition of Ti element can provide a change in the morphology of carbides in high vanadium alloy cast iron, and a modest increase in the hardness of high vanadium alloy cast iron;the Ti element has lit-tle effect on the impact toughness of high vanadium alloy cast iron;and the high vanadium alloy cast iron containing Ti of 1% boasts wear resistance 1 . 62 times better than that of high vanadium alloy cast iron without Ti.
