Abstract
Objective To compare the speech reception thresholds (SRT)of omni, directional and narrow directionality in Chinese multitalker babble and to discuss whether narrow directionality has more advantages in recognizing target speech. Methods 20 subjects with symmetrical sensorineural hearing loss were included. Each subject wore hearing aids binaurally. Mandarin Speech Test Materials(MSTMs) were used as the test materials. The SRTs of each subject were recorded in different microphone modes and were compared statistically.Results Narrow directionality provided an additional 1-3 dB improvement than omni and directional mode (P<0.01).Narrow directionality provided an additional 0.7 dB improvement than another directional technique in control group (P<0.05).Conclusion Binaural narrow directionality will be more beneficial for the hearing aid users to improve the signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) in Chinese multitalker babble.关键词
