摘要

Abstract

Because of the long⁃term lack of attention to poisonous grass,Cenchrus pauciflorus spreads all o⁃ver Zhangwu County.C.pauciflorus is harmful to livestock,and the encrouchment of C. pauciflorus results in low productivity and utilization.At the same time,the encrouchment of C.pauciflorus causes the reduction of biodi⁃versity and the decrease of resisitance of plant communities,which exerts great influence over the grassland ec⁃ological environment.The study of seed germination characteristics has great significance for its controlling and the improvement of the grassland ecological environment.The seed germination and seedling growth characteris⁃tics of Cenchrus pauciflorus were studied in the conditions of different temperatures,pH values and seed⁃buried depths.The behavior differences in germination between the two (big and small) seeds were also studied.The results showed that:the appropriate temperature for the gemination of seed was 20-25℃;pH value ( pH 3-9) had no obvious influence on seed germination,while too high or low pH value would restrain its seedling growth;the small naked seed germinated 0.6 d later on average than the big seed,but their germination rates were the same;the seed⁃buried depth ranging form 3 to 10 cm did not have obvious effect on the germination rate and seedling growth. The seeds of C. pauciflorus had dormancy, and they could spend the dormancy period when stored for 75 d at room temperature,and low temperature was not the essential condition for germination.
