Abstract
In order to learn the health situation of chicken raising in Yangtze and Pearl River Delta Area,a survey was jointly conducted with Animal husbandry and veterinary medicine Departments of Jiangsu,Anhui,Zhejian,Shang-hai and Guangdong province or municipality. Survey results showed that 78.6% chicken were raised by company or company+farmer household. 72.9% companies and farm households took all-in-all-out way to feed chickens,and differ-ences among different types of farm were obviously significant. The average score of bio- security was 56.2,and the lev-el of bio-security protection was rising along with the degree of the farm scale. The farm immunization rates of H5 sub-type influenza,ND,IBD were higher than 95%. 86.7% farms took burying or burning methods to dispose dead chicken, and 2% farms discarded,sold the dead animals,or used these to feed other animals. The average death and culling rate of 5 provinces or municipality was 7.23%(95%CI:4.24%~11.49%). The average cost per chicken for disease control and prevention was￥0.99 RNB,out of which more than 88% was paid for veterinary vaccine and drug. To promote animal disease control in the area,measures should be taken to eliminate the farms with bad biosecurity conditions,decrease live bird movements,stop discarding or selling the diseased or dead poultry .关键词
