Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of sodium valproate and topiramate in the treatment of children with epilepsy and to provide a reference for further clinical treatment. Methods 70 children with epilepsy treated at our hospital from February,2012 to February,2014 were selected and were randomly divided into group A,group B,and group C.Group A were treated with topiramate, group B sodium valproate (VPA),and group C sodium valproate and topiramate. The total efficacies were compared between these three groups. Results After the treatment, the total efficacy was 83.3% ingroup A,79.2% in group B,and 91.3% in group C and was better in group C than in group A and group B,with statistical difference (P<0.05).Certain degree of adverse reactions, including nausea, sensory abnormalities, sleepiness, system changes, etc.occurred in all the three groups, but with no statistical differences between these three groups (P>0.05).Conclusions Sodium valproate combined with topiramate in the treatment of pediatric epilepsy is obviously effective and significantly better than both the two drugs alone and doesn't increase the incidence of adverse reactions. The children can tolerate it well.It is worth for further clinical promotion and application.关键词
