Study of the parametric array acoustic field yielded by three collimated primary waves with different phases

Abstract
A parametric array can generate an acoustic beam of low frequency and high directivity. This has been widely used in acoustics engineering including seafloor profile measurement, buried underwater target detection and recognition, and underwater communications. Theoretical studies have shown that the interaction of three collimated primary waves can produce a parametric array radiation system with two difference frequencies. However, no sys⁃tematic analysis has been done of a multi⁃frequency parametric array acoustic field affected by the primary wave phase. To ensure the precision and calculation efficiency of the computation, this study drew on ideas from operator separation, combining the time domain with the frequency domain to solve the KZK equation for the parametric ar⁃ray, thereby achieving a description of a parameter array acoustic field formed by the interaction of three collimated primary waves with different phases. The simulation results showed that the sound pressure amplitude of the para⁃metric array changed with a change in the primary wave phases. The sound pressure amplitude of the parametric ar⁃ray difference frequency component was largest when the primary wave phase was zero. Finally, the experimental study and the simulation produced identical results.关键词
