Effect of psychological intervention on the quality of life in epilepsy patients:A Meta-analysis

Abstract
Objective To systematically evaluate the effect of psychological intervention on the quality of life in epilepsy patients.Methods We electronically searched Wan Fang,CNKI,VIP and CBM databases to select clinical controlled studies con-cerning the effect of psychological intervention on the quality of life in epilepsy patients from inception to December 2012.Two reviewers independently screened literature according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,extracted data,and assessed meth-odological quality of included studies.Then a Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.3 software.Results A total of 8 clinical controlled studies involving 598 patients were included.The results of Meta-analysis showed that psychological inter-vention could significantly increase the total scores of the quality of life and the scores of its subitems (P < 0.05 ),both of which also disclosed statistical differences in study group and control group when we compared before and after consultation (P<0.05 or <0.01).Conclusion Psychological intervention may effectively improve the quality of life in epilepsy patients,and its long-term intervention may be much more stable.Due to the limitation of quantity and quality of the included studies,large-scale,multi-central and high-quality clinical controlled studies are needed.关键词
