Abstract

Objective Investigate the effectiveness of problem-based learning (PBL) in the teaching of obstetrics and gynecology for undergraduates. Methods 94 students from the medical college of peking university in grade 2008 were randomly divided into PBL group (group PBL, 48) and control group (CG group, 46). Effectiveness of teaching was evaluated using the methods of test scores, quiz in lesson, questionnaire, and seminars. Results There was no difference in average test scores of 2 groups (P>0.05). The quiz scores in lesson of PBL group's was signiifcantly higher than control group (P<0.01). The questionnaire results show that the knowledge of the PBL group is more open, the learning effciency is higher, and the collective cooperation ability is improved, and it is more suitable for students. Conclusion The PBL teaching method is suitable for teaching of obstetrics and gynecology for undergraduate medical students, but it also needs continue to practice.
