Abstract
It is popular that betrothal gifts were regarded as important in marriage in modern Huaihe river basin.This phe-nomenon was mainly reflected in three aspects,including the changed concepts on betrothal gifts,the continuous increased betrothal gifts and the diversification of betrothal gifts.This was not only caused by the historical tradition but also by the combined effect of politics,economy and culture.Facing this phenomenon,we should insist on viewing it from a rational perspective.We need to consider both the adversely effect brought by it and the impact on feudal marriage.In addition,we must clearly recognize that it would not disappear over time.On the contrary,this is a social problem in modern China which needs to be solved urgently and can never be ignored.关键词
