Human Resource Allocation in Central Sterile Supply Department in Hospitals in Tianjin

Abstract
Objective To explore the present situation of human resource allocation of the central sterile supply department (CSSD) in hospitals in Tianjin, and to provide further suggestions for promoting scientific human resource allocation in CSSD. Methods Twenty-six managers in CSSD in Tianjin were investigated with a self-designed questionnaire regarding personnel structure, quantities and features of the staff, etc. Results There were 22 CSSD (84.6%) with nurses and workers, while 4 (15.4%) with nurses only. In 26 hospitals, the nursing personnel accounted for 72.5%, and the ration of staff to the bed was 2.14:100. The mean age of the nurses was (42.5±4.6) and nurses with college education accounted for 73.3% and those with primary and intermediate professional title 79.1%. The average age of the workers was (40.7±15.3) and 72.0% of the workers had graduated from senior high school and junior high school. Workers working in CSSD less than 5 years accounted for 71.2%. In recent one year, 21 workers in 6 hospitals quitted their job. Conclusion Nurses play a major role in CSSD but the number of the workers is not enough. Since the workers have a high turnover, managers should take effective strategies to promote the development of talents.关键词
