Abstract
Discussions on deafness could be found in various chapter in Internal Canon,and the cause and mechanism are fully explored. After reviewing the entries on deafness in Internal Canon,it could be found that internal organs and meridians are closely associated with deafness ,and the mechanism includes two as-pects:①Diseases of the internal organs cause deafness. Diseases of kidneys,liver,spleen and lung all can cause deafness. Usually kidneys,spleen and lung cause deafness of deficient syndrome,while liver cause deafness of deficient and excessive syndromes,and deafness due to abnormal emotion is often associated with liver. ②Meridian disease could cause deafness. The head is the location for the convergence of yang meridians. The gallbladder channel of foot shaoyang,the large intestine channel of hand yangming,the small intestine chan-nel of hand taiyang and the tri-jiao channel of hand shaoyang have a close relationship with deafness. Deaf-ness caused by meridian is mainly related to exogenous pathogenic factors ,and usually is excessive.关键词
