Abstract

With large-scale wind power integration, conventional coordinated control method for coal-fired power plant is not suitable for complicated automatic generation control (AGC) command currently. AGC command was divided into three basic modes. By analyzing the characteristics of different modes, rate limiter for command processing was improved. For rapidly changing inputs, improved rate limiter is equal to rate limiter; for slowly ones, it is equal to first order inertial object. The improved rate limiter can reduce fuel fluctuation caused by command differential. Though power load response to fuel is slow, heat supply unit can change load rapidly by heat net energy storage. First, load command was decomposed by the improved rate limiter. Then, the decomposed commands were set to be feedforward signals for fuel command and heat supply side separately. Thus, a synthesized feedforward-feedback coordinated control method was proposed. Simulation results show that when the AGC load command changes, performance of this control method is better than that of feedforward control by rate limiter decomposition, of which advantages mainly reflects in smaller fluctuation of throttle pressure and fuel.
