Abstract
Objective To report treatment outcomes of a modified postauricular expansion skin flap in-cision technique for auricle reconstruction. Methods Form 2009 to 2014, a soft tissue skin expander was used together with autogenous rib cartilage framework in ear reconstruction, with the trailing third edge of the ex-panded flap retained during the second stage of the reconstruction. Results A total of 42 patients received the procedure, and 30 of these patients were followed up for 6-18 months (mean=14 months). Normal sensory functions were restored in the reconstructed auricle, with no deformation or obvious change in the cranioauric-ular angle during follow up. Conclusion This modified technique can effectively reduce deformation of the re-constructed auricle caused by scars. The technique is simple and worth wide use.关键词
