Expression and Significance of CA-IX and E-cadherin in Non-small Cell Lung Cancer

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the expression of carbonic anhydrase-IX ( CA-IX) and epithelial cadherin ( E-cad) in non-small cell lung cancer ( NSCLC) and their relationship with the clinicopathologi-cal features, and to study the correlation among the expression of CA-IX and E-cad. Method:Both CA-IX and E-cad expressions of 78 cases of NSCLC and 20 cases of normal lung tissues specimens were retrospec-tively assessed through immunohistochemical ( IHC) analyses. Result:The positive expression rates of CA-IX and E-cad was 61.5% (48/78) and 26.9% (21/78) in 78 cases of lung cancer, while 0.0% (0/20) and 100% (20/20) in normal tissues, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Significant cor-relations between CA-IX and E-cad expression with many clinicopathological measurements such as differen-tiation, TNM stage and lymph node metastasis were found ( P<0.05) . The expression of CA-IX and E-cad was significantly inversely correlated (r=-0.352, P<0.05). Conclusion: CA-IX and E-cad associates each other and both play key roles in the progression of NSCLC. So to detect the expression of CA-IX and E-cad together may provide strong evidence to judge NSCLC invasion and metastasis in early clinical time.关键词
