Abstract

Methods of experimental and numerical simulation were used to study the effects of the design parameters, such as thickness, aperture and perforation rate, on the acoustic performance of the absorbers with the micro-perforated panels. The experiment contents were mainly processed on a stationary-wave tube and a pipe-type test platform. The experiment contents relevant to the stationary wave tube were used to prove the correctness of the experiments. An algorithm for finding extreme points was taken in numerical simulation. Using this algorithm could help to directly determine the resonance points, i.e. the maximum noise absorption positions in the pores without solving the classical equations. On the other hand, the variation of sound absorption bandwidth could be determined by superimposing the two curves near the resonance points. The variation trends of the experimental and simulation results were consistent.
