Effects of Fish Oil Replacement by Blending Vegetable Oils in Fattening Diets on Gonadal Development, Lipid Metabolism, Antioxidant and Immune Capacities of Adult Male Chinese Mitten Crab (Eriocheir sinensis)

Abstract
In order to investigate the effects of fish oil replacement by blending vegetable oils on gonadal devel-opment, lipid metabolism, antioxidant and immune capacities of adult male Chinese mitten crab ( Eriocheir sinensis) , five isonitrogenous and isolipidic fattening diets with 39.5%crude protein and 14.0%crude lipid were formulated to replace 0, 25%, 50%, 75%and 100%of fish oil ( named diets 1#, 2#, 3#, 4# and 5#, respectively) with blending vegetable oils ( soybean oil∶rapeseed oil=1∶1) .Therefore, there were five groups in this study and each group had four replicates ( each replicate with 25 crabs) for the culture of male crabs. The experiment lasted for 60 days in outdoor pond.The results showed as the follows: 1) different levels of fish oil replacement by blending vegetable oils had no significant effects on gonadosomatic index ( GSI ) and hepatosomatic index (HSI) of male E.sinensis (P>0.05).2) The lowest content of triglyceride (TG) in hepatopancreas was detected in diet 1# group, while there were no significant differences in the contents of hepatopancreas TG and total cholesterol ( TC) among the other groups ( P>0.05) .Except for the contents of free cholesterol ( FC) and high density lipoprotein cholesterol ( HDL-C) , the serum lipid metabolism indices in diet 2# group were significantly higher than those in other groups ( P<0.05) .3) For the antioxidant indices in the hepatopancreas, the total antioxidant capacity ( T-AOC) , peroxidase ( POD) activity and malondialdehyde ( MDA) content in diet 1#group were significantly higher than those in other groups ( P<0.05) , but no signif-icant difference was found for the superoxide dismutase ( SOD) activity among the five groups ( P>0.05) .For the immune indices in the hepatopancreas, the highest activities of alkaline phosphatase ( ALP) and acid phos-phatase ( ACP) were found in diet 1# group;diet 4#group had the highest activity of γ-glutamyl transpeptid-ase (γ-GT) , diet 1# group took second place, and diet 2# group was the worst.4) The highest ALP activity in the serum was detected in diet 3# group, and significantly higher than that in diet 1# and 4# groups ( P<0.05) , but no significant difference was found for the serum ACP activity among the five groups ( P>0.05) . The serum hemocyanin ( Hc) content, T-AOC and SOD activity in diet 2#group were significantly higher than those in other groups ( P<0.05) , while the lowest serum POD activity and MDA content were found in diet 2#group.In conclusion, fish oil replacement by blending vegetable oils ( soybean∶rapeseed oil=1∶1) in fattening diets have no significant effect on male gonadal development, and the appropriate replacement levels would have no negative effects on lipid metabolism, antioxidant and immune capacities of adult male E.sinensis. Therefore, the appropriate replacement levels of fish oil are 25%to 50%for fattening diets of adult male E. sinensis.关键词
