摘要

Abstract

Low adhesiveness and water resistance has restrained the application of soy protein-based adhesive ( SPA) in particle board industry.In order to improve SPA quality with Alkali (NaOH), the amount of NaOH, treatment duration and temperature were investigated.Then viscosity of the degraded soy protein and its reaction ability with formaldehyde were measured.Furthermore, formaldehyde, glyoxal, and glutaraldehyde were added to stabilize alkaline-degraded soy mixture to manufacture particle board with the optimal performance.Results showed that the optimal protein disruption condition was addition of 9%NaOH for three hours at 90℃.Particle boards made from three stabilizers all met the standard of particle board.FT-IR and DSC curves proved that formal-dehyde had the best quality performance with low curing reaction activation energy but its application should be under precautious consideration due to the hazardousness to human.Glyoxal was able to stabilize protein effectively.But the high reaction activation energy resulted in low internal bonding strength.Glutaraldehyde had the best overall performance with the only drawback of least stabilizing-protein capability.This study adds knowledge to the searching of optimal stabilizer and cross-linker agent for particle board.
