Abstract
Mainland China has 114 cities of Cultural and Historical Interest, which retains its historic character at the same time, making efforts to urban renewal to meet the needs of modern life. Urban designers are concerned with people's image of the city; therefore Semantic evaluation research is used. Image of the ancient city mainly come from the public space, while commercial street space is common and shared. People's impression for the ancient city streets would be always the same or would differ with those change spatial characteristics, which is the question to be studied in this article. This paper selected four representative commercial streets of ancient city as research subjects, using semantic evaluation research on people of the mainland and Taiwan. The purpose was to analyze the relationship between design features and the image evaluation on the commercial streets of ancient city.关键词
