Qualitative Study on Stages of Change Model-based Pain Self-management in Patients with Lumbar Disc Herniation
摘要
Abstract
Objective To investigate the experience of pain self-management in patients with lumbar disc herniation (LDH) on the framework of stages of change model. Methods The phenomenological methodology was used in the study. A total of 26 LDH patients were interviewed about their real experience of pain self-management based on stages of change model. Results The LDH patients experienced severe lumbago-leg pain and patients ’ pain experience and pain self-management varied in different behavioral stages. There were defects of pain self-management in LDH patients. Conclusion Perfect pain management system and targeted individualized health guidance should be developed to improve patients ’ pain self-management ability and pain self-efficacy and reduce their pain.关键词
