Abstract
Objective To investigate the influence of gonadotropin-releasing hormone analog ( GnRHa) on BMI and bone metabolism markers of girls with idiopathic central precocious puberty ( ICPP) .Methods We enrolled 60 girls with ICPP who received treatment in the outpatient unit of the Department of Children Endocrinology of the 2nd Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University from March 2001 to May 2003 as ICPP group.At the same time, 35 healthy girls with matching age who received examination in the Department of Children Endocrinology were enrolled as control group.Patients of ICPP group were treated with hydrochloric acid and triptorelin for 2 to 4 years with an average treatment course of ( 2.7 ±1.2 ) years.After treatment started, follow -up was conducted once a month in the hospital to monitor height, BMI and BA, and BMI was calculated.After treatment ended, follow-up was conducted once every half a year until final height was reached.By the end of December 2010, the average follow-up time was (8.2 ±1.6) years.We recorded BA, BMI, overweight rate and obesity rate when treatment started, when treatment ended and when final height was reached; we also recorded the levels of P1NP, β-CTX and N-MID of ICPP group before treatment and 2 years after treatment and of control group before treatment.Results In ICPP group, the age, BA and BMI of the children when treatment ended were higher than those when treatment started ( P<0.05);in ICPP group, the age and BA of the children when final height was reached were higher than those when treatment started ( P<0.05); in ICPP group, the age and BA of the children when final height was reached were higher than those when treatment ended, and the BMI was lower than that when treatment ended ( P<0.05) .The levels of P1NP and N-MID of ICPP group were higher than control group before treatment ( P<0.05 ); ICPP group was not significantly different from control group in β-CTX level before treatment (P>0.05) .After treatment, the levels of P1NP and N-MID of ICPP group were lower than those before treatment ( P<0.05 ) , and the level of β-CTX of ICPP group was not significantly different from that before treatment ( P>0.05) .Conclusion Girls with ICPP treated with GnRHa are likely to increase in BMI, while the influence may be temporary.GnRHa can effectively inhibit the excessive hyperfunction of osteoblast, but has limited influence on the function of osteoclast.关键词
