Abstract
Objective To investigate the association of miR-132 expression with clinicopathological charac-teristics and overall survival in patients with colon cancer. Methods Expression levels of the miR-132 were detected using qRT-PCR and hybridization. Associations of miR-132 expression with clinicopathological factors and overall survival were statistically evaluated. Results The expression levels of miR-132 in the colon cancer tissues were significantly lower than those in the normal colon tissues, in line with the findings of hybridization ( <0.01). In addition, the tumors with low miR-132 expression were more likely to have advanced clinical stage (both =0.006) and higher grade ( =0.01 and 0.02). Moreover, univariate analysis showed that the colon cancer patients with low miR-132 expression had shorter overall survival ( <0.01). Multivariate statistical analysis further identified miR-132 as an independent prognostic factor for colon cancer ( <0.01). Conclusions miR-132 low-expression may promote the aggressive tumor progression and be recog-nized as a reliable marker to predict the survival in patients with colon cancer. The three miRNAs could be attractive therapeutic targets in patients with advanced-stage colon cancer.关键词
