There were 390 junior high school students(193 boys,197 girls). They are all Han people with mean age of 14.08±0.84 years, age range of 11.49~16.55 years. And they were assigned to the five groups through clinical assessment according to Incisor Classification and individ-ual normal occlusion criterion. The five groups represented were individual normal occlusion as well as incisor Class I,Class II/1,Class II/2,Class III malocclusion and individual normal occlusion group. Then, psychosocial impacts were assessed using Psychosocial Impact of Dental Aesthetics Questionnaire among all the subjects. Statistical analysis involved Kruskal-Wallis H test. There was no sta-tistical significance (P>0.0125) between incisor class III group and the other 3 groups. Incisor class III group was 4 points higher than individual normal occlusion group. In terms of aesthetic concern, after comparing the other 4 groups with incisor class III group, there was no statistical significance (P>0.0125) between incisor class III group and incisor class II/1 group. There wasstatistical significance(P<0.0125) between incisor class III group and the other 3 groups. Incisor class III group was 3 points higher than incisor class I group,2.5 points higher than incisor class II/2 group,4 points higher than individual normal occlusion group. In terms of dental self-confidence, after comparing the other 4 groups with incisor class III group, there was statistical significance (P<0.0125) between incisor class III group and individual normal occlusion group. Conclusion:Malocclusion has a certain adverse impact on social psychology of junior middle school students. Especially malocclusion increased their social impact, reduced their dental self-confidence,incisor class II 1 and incisor class III increased their aesthetic concern impact.
