Abstract

A three-dimensional (3D) hydrogeological model can show the spatial distribution characteristics of groundwater bearing media in many directions, and it is an effective method for the analysis of aquifer systems. Hydrogeological boreholes, engineering geological boreholes, quaternary boreholes, surface digital elevation models (DEM), bedrock surfaces, the range of modeling areas, completed quaternary models, hydrogeological proifles and hydrogeological maps are the basic data in 3D hydrogeological modeling. Geological information management and the service system of Suzhou city form the basis of a 3D hydrogeological model. The modeling method is “borehole with hydrogeological proifle or contour line and stratum entity”. A 3D hydrogeological model of Suzhou city can provide detailed geological data and scientiifc direction for information management on groundwater resources and sustainable development of the city.
