摘要

Abstract

Comparison and discussion of the design methods of small-ring stiffened cylindrical shells under external pressure in ASME Ⅷ-2 ,API Bulletin 2 U and EN 13445-3 standards to strengthen the similar-ities and differences.Experimental data of external pressurized small-ring stiffened cylindrical shells whose failure modes are general instability in references are adopted to estimate the codes.Their sizes are cited as examples in calculation to get the ratio of experimental critical pressures to allowable external pressure obtained by each code( called safety margin ratio) .The result shows that:most of the safety margin ratios obtained by the three codes are less than 3.0.The average value of the safety margin ratios which are ob-tained according to ASME Ⅷ-2 is 2.77 and it′s standard deviation is 1.44;the average value of the safety margin ratios obtained according to API Bulletin 2U is 2.84 and it′s standard deviation is 0.35;the average value of the safety margin ratios obtained according to EN 13445-3 is 2.21 and it′s standard de-viation is 0.42.
