Abstract

If the heat injected and extracted from the soil is unbalanced when a ground source heat pump (GSHP) is operating, the soil temperature will change gradually. For the areas with higher heating demands than cooling demands, the soil temperature becomes lower and finally jeopardizes the function of the GSHP. Using solar assisted ground source heat pump system is one way to solve the problem. In this paper, the weather model, CO2 heat pump model, the ground source heat exchanger model, the solar collector model and the building model were developed, and the performance prediction model for the solar assisted CO2 ground source heat pump system was developed based on the submodels. The experimental validation for solar collector model and ground source heat exchanger model was analyzed based on the existing experimental data;the validation results show that, the deviation of the predicted hot water temperature is smaller than 1 oC, and the prediction accuracy of the ground source heat exchanger model is higher than 90%. Taking Trondheim of Norway as example, the performance of the proposed system was analyzed and compared with that of normal ground source heat pump system;the results show that, the heat unbalance rate for the solar assisted ground source heat pump system after operation of one year is reduced from 95.1%to lower than 0.1%, and energy consumption is decreased by 41.5%.
