Abstract

Objective:To develop the scale of school adjustment for junior high school students in China .Methods:On the basis of extant reference and open questionnaire ,the scale for junior high school students was developed by i‐tem analysis ,identification degree ,exploratory factor analysis ,confirmatory factor analysis ,and validity and reliabili‐ty were examined .Results:Exploratory factor analysis indicated that the scale of school adjustment for junior high school students included seven dimensionalities :Academic adjustment ,school attitude ,emotion adjustment ,class ac‐tivity adjustment ,teacher-student intimation ,teacher-student conflict and classmate relationship ,which explained 46 7.50% total variance .The result of confirmatory factory analysis indicated that seven extraction factors fit well with conceptual model (χ2/df=3 0.38 ,REMA=0 0.46 ,TLI=0 8.50 ,CFI=0 8.55 ,NFI=0 7.98 ,GFI=0 7.68) ,and the structural validity of the scale was acceptable .In addition ,international consistency coefficients(Cronbach’s)α of whole scale was 0 9.58 ,international consistency coefficients of the subscales was 0 9.58 ,0 8.98 ,0 9.47 ,0 9.12 ,0 8.81 , 0 9.34 ,0 9.06 ,0 8.86 .Retest reliability of w hole scale w as 0 7.52 and the retest reliability of w hole scale and subscales were significant (P<0 0.1) .Conclusion:The scale of school adjustment for junior high school students has acceptable reliabilities and validities ,and can be used to measure the school adjustment for junior high school students in China .
