Correlation of Coping Style and Mental Health of Vocational Students

Abstract
Objective:To explore the correlation of coping style and mental health of vocational students ,and pro‐vide theoretical basis for carrying out mental health education in vocational schools .Methods:A total of 385 vocation‐al students were investigated by Coping Style Scale of Middle School Students and Mental Health Inventory of Mid‐dle School Students .Results:The vocational students’ scores in a series of mental health indexes ,such as compulsion , paranoia ,hostility ,anxiety ,interpersonal sensitivity and psychological imbalance ,were higher than the normal level (t=2 4.7 ,3 2.4 ,1 9.7 ,2 9.0 ,2 2.9 ,‐8 4.3 ;P<0 0.5);The boys’ scores in the indexes of problem solving ,rationalization , patience were significantly higher than girls’(t=3 0.4 ,1 9.6 ,2 6.9 ;P<0 0.5);The girls’ scores in the indexes of es‐cape ,vent emotion were remarkably higher than boys’(t=‐2 5.1 ,‐2 0.7 ;P<0 0.5);The scores of freshmen in the in‐dexes of escape ,fantasy were higher than that of other two grades(t=3 0.4 ,1 9.6 ;P<0 0.5);The indexes of vent e‐motion and fantasy belonging to coping style were positively related to the total score of mental health and subscales (P<0 0.1);The indexes of patience and escape were positively related to the total score of mental health and sub‐scales in different degrees (P<0 0.1);Conclusion:The vocational students’ mental health is in a low level ,and there are different degrees of correlation between coping style and their mental health .关键词
