Abstract
[Objectives] The aim of the study was to investigate the effects of guanidinoacetic acid (GAA)on growth performance, slaughtering performance, and antioxidant capacity in Cherry Valley ducks.[Methods] A total of 720 healthy 10 day-old Cherry Valley ducks with roughly equal weight were randomly assigned to 4 groups with 6 replicates of 30 ducks in each replicate(pen).Ducks were fed a basal diet supplemented with 0% (control),0.025% (experiment Ⅰ),0.05% (experiment Ⅱ) and 0.10% (experiment Ⅲ) GAA.At 42 day-old,l duck per pen was randomly selected for measuring the relative indexes.[Results] GAA supplementation tended to increase average daily gain(ADG) and decrease feed/gain(F/G) respectively, but it was not significant(P>0.05).The percentage of half eviscerated yield, eviscerated yield, and leg muscle also tended to be increased, especially in the experiment Ⅱ(P<0.05),compared with the control. The creatine content of breast muscle in experiment Ⅱ and the plasma creatine content in experiment Ⅲ were higher (P<0.05) than those in control. In serum, total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC),catalase (CAT) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity in the three experiment groups were numerically increased(P>0.05) and malondioldehyde(MDA) content tended to decrease, especially in experiment Ⅱ(P<0.05),compared with the control.Compared with the control, glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px) activity in the three experiment groups were increased respectively by 9.96%,32.46%,12.34%,and the experiment Ⅱ was significantly higher than other groups(P<0.05).Reduced glutathione tablets (GSH)content was markedly increased (P<0.05)in experiment Ⅱ compared with the control. In liver, the activity of T-AOC,CAT,SOD,GSH-Px and the content of GSH tended to be increased when GAA was supplemented, especially the SOD activity and GSH content in the experiment Ⅱ,which were higher(P<0.05) than the other groups, and the GSH-Px activity was higher(P<0.05)than the control.[Conclusions] The results suggest that diets supplemented with GAA has no significant effect on growth performance of Cherry Valley ducks, but can improve slaughter performance and antioxidant capacity.Under this experiment conditions, the optimum addition content of GAA in diets was 0.05%.关键词
