Abstract
As a branch of southwest mandarin , suffixation of a nonsyllabic “r” to nouns is very common in Xiangy-ang dialect .The paper describes several formations of the phenomenon and discusses the characteristics of it from perspective of semantics and grammer .It finds that suffixation of a nonsyllabic “r” to nouns in Xiangyang dialect can change the semantics of the words ,which adds the emotion of “smallness” and“easiness” additionally .Suffix-ation of a nonsyllabic “r” to nouns is an important way to word formation in Xiangyang dialect .The noun with suf-fixation of a nonsyllabic “r” can be as used as a subject , a predicate , an object , an attribute modifier and an ad-verbial modifier in a sentence .关键词
