Abstract
Specific energy is an important hydraulic index on stepped spillways. Residual energy was introduced and the relationship between specific energy and residual energy on stepped spillway was analyzed. Combining with the hydraulic model experiment of Simutasi Hydropower Station's stepped spillway, specific energy along the flow path was studied under different discharges and step heights. The results indicate that specific energy of skimming flow on stepped spillways can first increase and then remain constant along the flow path and the stable value of specific energy equals to the residual energy at the exert of stepped spillway. Residual energy increases with unit discharge while decreases with step height. Through dimensional analysis and regression analysis, a good linear relationship between two non⁃dimensional parameters was found, providing a new way for the study of hydraulic characteristics of stepped spillway. A formula to calculate residual energy on stepped spillway at slope of 1�1. 25 and the relationship between residual energy and energy dissipation rate were put forward, providing references for related design.关键词
