摘要
Abstract
The Silk Road on the Eurasian continent is a link that connects East and West. Xinjiang (the Western Regions), which is located in the centre of this East-West axis, is an intersection of Chinese, Indian, Mesopotamian, Egyptian and ancient Greek civilizations and therefore is known for its cultural diversity. The current author analyzes the factors related to the formation of cultural diversity in Xinjiang, that is, convergence of religions, large population of believers, ethnic and linguistic diversity, multi-culture and East-West integration. Such cultural diversity has influenced local Uygur handicraft, which is under in-depth discussion in this paper. It is concluded that the unique Xinjiang Uygur folk handicraft is the result of interaction of East and West cultures and arts and is influenced by ethnic history, religious beliefs and aesthetic ideas.关键词
