针刺治疗原发性视网膜色素变性临床观察
Clinical Observation of Acupuncture for Primary Pigmentary Degeneration of Retina

Abstract
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture by chief physician ZHANG Ren in treating primary pigmentary degeneration of retina (PPDR) based on a standardized formula, for objectively evaluating the efficacy of acupuncture for this disease and providing evidence for promotion in clinic. Method Twenty-six PPDR patients (51 eyes) had been collected ever since the year 1998. By using self-comparison method, the vision, visual field, electroretinogram (ERG), and Quality of Life (QOL) Scale for Patients with Visual Function Damage were observed after 3-month treatment and currently, and the clinical efficacies were evaluated. Result The vision and QOL scores were significantly changed after treatment (P<0.05); the examination of visual field showed significant difference in average sensitivity (P<0.05), but insignificant change in average defect (P>0.05); there was no significant change in ERG (P>0.05); the total effective rate was 69.6%; the basic vision had a positive correlation with the therapeutic efficacy (P<0.05), while the disease duration and age had a negative correlation with the therapeutic efficacy (P<0.05). Conclusion Acupuncture has a certain therapeutic efficacy in treating PPDR and it can enhance the QOL of the patients; a shorter disease duration and better basic vision may predict a higher therapeutic efficacy.关键词
