Abstract

To solve the problem of filtering tank frequently backwashing during low tem-perature low turbidity season of the 200,000 m3/d water supply plant, we conducted an ex-periment on the sludge back flow in the high efficiency settling tank, the results of which showed that proper sludge return ratio and PAM dosage can significantly increase the density of returned sludge to improve the effect of coagulation. The optimum density of the floccu-lants (PAC) is 17 mg/L, the optimum density of the coagulant agents (PAM) is 0.17 mg/L, the optimum sludge return ratio is 1% and the mixing rotation of the flocculation tank is 9-10 r/min. After testing and adjustment, the problem of filtering tanks frequently backwashing has been solved with satisfactory effluent quality.
