Relationship between the Levels of Serum Aβ1-42, Cystatin C, Uric Acid and Cognitve Impair-ment in Patients with Parkinson’s Disease

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the relationship between the levels of serum Aβ1-42,Cystatin C (Cys C), Uric acid (UA) in patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD) complicated with cognitive impairment. Methods:Serum samples were collected from 108 patients who were diagnosed to have sporadic PD (PD group) and 108healthycontrols (control group). Demographic data were recorded and concentrations of Cys C andUA; Aβ1-42 levels were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in the two groups. Results: Serum Aβ1-42 level and UA level weresignificantly lower in the PD group than in the control group (P<0.05); Cys C level in the PD group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.01).Further, Cys C level in patients with H-Y stage≥3 was higher than those with H-Y stage <3 (P <0.05). As the cognitive impairment aggravated, the level of Aβ1-42showed a gradually decreasing trend and Cys C showed anincreasing trend but neither had statistical signifi-cances (P>0.05). There was significant positive correlation between CysC and the scoresrelevant to naming do-main in MoCA scale (P<0.01). It showed that UA has a negative correlation with UPDRSⅢ scores(P<0.05), and a markedly positive correlation with visual space and executive functions and naming function (P<0.01), positive correlation with total scores in MoCA and MMSE (P<0.05). Conclusion: In patients with PD, the levels of serum Aβ1-42 and UA were significantly lower, while the Cys C level was higher, compared with controls.关键词
