Abstract

According to tide and suspended sediment data of Weitou bay in Fujian during spring tide, the wa?ter transport was analyzed and the net transport flux of suspended sediment was divided into advection term, tidal pumping effect term and vertical circulation transport term by use of mechanism decomposition method. A discus?sion was made on the dynamic mechanism of suspended sediment transport. The result shows that part of the residu?al current in the east of Jinmen island flows to the bay mouth and part flows to Anhai bay. The residual current be?tween Jinmen island and Dadeng island flows to the bay. The direction of suspended sediment transport is consis?tent with that of residual current. Advection effect is a dominant factor and tidal pumping effect term plays an impor?tant role in suspended sediment transport. The vertical circulation transport term has a small proportion.
