Research on Characterization of a EV-DO Network
摘要
Abstract
The growth of mobile streaming applications has increased the importance of a better understanding of 3G EVDO performance. For a more accurate measurement of EV-DO network bandwidth,EVDO network sniffer and Wireshark2 tool is applied to capture cellu-lar network traffic for measurement,carrying on a series of experimental measurements including data rate control,packet encapsulation, packet interarrival time,packet loss pattern and queue management to offer an in-depth,crosslayer understanding of EV-DO. The results demonstrate that data rates for non-mobile EV-DO users are more stable than previously reported with little variance over short time scales and more random behavior over long time scales;low-level packet encapsulation/combination happens frequently;and custom service provider configurations and operating system differences can obfuscate network behavior relative to EV-DO specifications.关键词
