Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical value of Focus harmonic scalpel assisted dissection of the facial nerve trunk in parotid tumor surgery. Methods Sixty-nine patients with parotid tumors were randomly divided into Focus harmonic scalpel group and electrocautery group. Facial nerve was dissected form the trunk to the tip during operation, and parotid tumors were resected. Operation time, amount of bleeding, volume of drainage within 48 hours after surgery, drainage time and postoperative complications were recorded. Results The use of Focus harmonic scalpel shortened the operation time and drainage time, reduced the amount of bleeding and volume of drainage compared with the electrocautery group. But there were no differences in postoperative complications between both groups. Conclusions The application of Focus harmonic scalpel in parotidectomy is safe, efficient and feasible. Dis-section of the facial nerve trunk has the advantages of good exposure, protection of the nerve and prevention of com-plications.关键词
