Efficacy and Safety of Maleic Acid Fluvoxamine for Treating Elderly Depression in 40 Cases

Abstract
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of maleic acid fluvoxamine in treating elderly depression. Methods 80 cases of elderly patients with depression were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group, 40 cases in each group. The observation group received maleic acid fluvoxamine ( 50-150 mg ) , oral treatment once daily;the control group received flu-oxetine ( 20-40 mg ) oral treatment once daily. 8 weeks was 1 course of a treatment. Before and after 1, 2, 4, 8 weekend of treatment, the 17 Hamilton Depression Scale ( HAMD ) was used to assess the clinical efficacy of the two drugs, and the use of side effects scale ( TESS ) was used to evaluate the safety of the two drugs. Results After 8 weeks of treatment, the total effective rate of the observation group was 77. 50%, which had no statistically significant difference with 72. 50% of the control group ( P ﹥ 0. 05 );the HAMD scores of the observation group in the first and the second week were significantly lower than the control group ( P ﹤ 0. 01 ) , the HAMD anxiety factor score in the first weekend was significantly lower than the control group ( P ﹤ 0. 05 ); the TESS scores of the two groups after treatment were not significantly different ( P ﹥ 0. 05 );the incidence of nausea in the observation group was 12. 50%, which was signifi-cantly lower than 45. 00% in the control group ( P ﹤ 0. 01 ) . Conclusion Maleic acid fluvoxamine and fluoxetine are effective in the treatment of elderly patients with depression, and the efficacy of the two drugs are equivalent. But maleic acid fluvoxamine has a faster onset, lower incidence of adverse reactions advantage;it is a safe and effective treatment, which is worthy of promotion.关键词
