Abstract
Objective: To describe the distribution and characteristics of the diseases consulted by the chief resident of endocrinology, and to provide a basis for the establishment and perfection of the consultation avenue. Methods: Statistical analysis was performed on all inpatients in the department of endocrinology from august 2014 to july 2015. Results: A total of 4 500 patients were consulted during one year period in endocrinology, including routine consultations for 3 953 cases(87.8%)and emergency consultations for 547 cases(12.1%). The chief resident consulted an average of 18 new patients per day. Most of the patients were 40 ~ 60 years old (2 417 cases, 53.7%).There were 2 647 people (58.8%) required consultation of non-surgical departments, 1 842 people (40.9%) of surgical departments,and 11 people (0.2%) of emergency department. In non-surgical departments, 694 people (26.2%) of Neurology Departments, 512 people (19.34%) of Cardiology Department, and 402 people (15.2%) of Gastroenterology. In surgical department, there were 412 people (22.4%) of General Surgery Department, 305 people (16.6%)of Ophthalmology, and 279 people (15.1%)of Hepatobiliary Surgery. The most common diagnosis was diabetes mellitus and its acute and chronic complications (2974 cases, 66%), followed by thyroid and parathyroid diseases (845 cases, 18.7%), and electrolyte disturbance (301 cases, 6.6%). In the 547 emergency cases, the most common diagnosis was diabetes mellitus and its acute complications (349 cases, 63.8%), followed by electrolyte disturbances(131 cases, 23.9%). Conclusion: Endocrinology consultations are overwhelming. The analysis of endocrinology consultation cases provides certain reference for the chief resident and cooperation among multidisciplinary departments should be encouraged to improve the overall level of treatment in general hospital.关键词
