Karst Features and Advanced Detection of Extra-long Bibanpo Tunnel

Abstract
Karst is one of the main unfavorable geology in the Bibanpo tunnel. It’s important to find out the way to forecast accurately karst development and analyze its features to ensure normal tunneling. Karst features are analyzed from vertical and horizontal aspects based on revealed caves. Those caves are classified by shape into three categories: strip, hemisphere and dot-hole. A comprehensive forecast method employing TSP, geological radar, infrared detection and advanced horizontal core drill is introduced. With reference to a cave in left line, the comprehensive forecast method is proved accurate and feasible to predict the geological conditions in extra-long tunnel.关键词
