Abstract

In order to study the relationship of artillery projectiles ground-dispersion performance between two-thirds firing-range and maximum firing-range,the Monte-Carlo method and 6-DOF trajectory equation were applied,and the simulation prediction model of ground-dispersion of projectiles was established by applying random number series according to the feature of error factor. The corresponding ground-dispersion simulation-values under the two-thirds firing-range and maximum firing-range were obtained taking a 155 mm caliber artillery projectile for a numerical example. The influence factors of projectile dispersion of maximum firing-range and two-thirds firing-range are quite different, and it is difficult to quantificationally correspond. The method of ground dispersion index of two-thirds firing-range can’t reflect the performance level of maximum firing-range dispersion,which can’t be applied. The maximum firing-range dispersion performance is irrelevant with fire-angle,but the fire angle has a great impact on the dispersion performance under two-thirds firing-range. Artillery projectiles ground-dispersion performance should be evaluated by the maximum firing range,and the dispersion performance of artillery systems can be evaluated by the two-thirds firing-range.
