A New Hybrid Circuit Breaker for DC-Application
摘要
Abstract
A novel hybrid breaker topology with forced commutation is proposed in this paper to achieve fast breaking of DC line short-circuit current in DC transmission and distribution system. By adding forced commutation circuit in the conduction branch, the breaker is able to interrupt the DC fault current in several milliseconds. Furthermore, zero-current switch of mechanical switchgear is achieved in the topology. And the breaker could be maintained in conducting state even if the gate driver of the semiconductor devices suddenly experiences blackout, so the reliability of the breaker is improved. The operation and design principles of the proposed hybrid breaker are presented, and the simulation is carried out which verifies the breaker is able to break DC short circuit current in a short time.关键词
