Dynamics of Rice Planthopper Population Occurrence in Yunxiao County

Abstract

Light trap ,field survey and meteorological data of rice planthopper in Yunxiao County during between 2005 and 2015 were collected to investigate the dynamics of rice planthopper occurrence in Yunxiao County in the past 11 years and the factors .The results showed as follows .In the early rice ,Sogatella furcifera was dominant population accounting for 91.3% ,followed by Nilaparvata lugens accounting for 8.7% .In the late rice , Sogatella furcifera was dominant accounting for 75.7% to 77.7% at the early stage , but Nilaparvata lugens population gradually exceeded that of Sogatella f urci f era and accounted for 51.6% to 63.1% at the middle and late stages . Rice planthopper population dynamics was similar among different months and years ,presenting a two‐peaks curve .Rice planthopper occurred 7 to 8 generations annually in Yunxiao County ,the damage caused by the fourth generation in early rice was greater than that causedbytheseventhgenerationinlaterice.Sogatellafurciferaappearedearlierthan Nilaparvatalugens.Inthepast11 years ,the mean occurrence degree was 3.3 grades ,belonging to moderate‐seriousness .The major generations presented the characteristics such as earlier appearance and intermittent occurrence and damages .Climate conditions were the crucial factors to affect the rice planthopper population occurrence .Typhoon ,southwest air flow and rain showers remarkably affected immigration of rice planthopper ,and many great peaks of immigration were the main factor causing rice planthopper occurrence and becoming disaster in Yunxiao County .
